When I think about the ideal accomodation it must meet these requirements:
Or how we say it in Spain the 3 Bs (Bueno, Bonito y Barato). Well, we don’t really call it this way but coud be.
Top places to find accomodation
This is the first place I look at if I am looking for a place to stay, you have so many options to filter the kind of accommodation you want. You probably have heard about it before, but I had to mention it.
Here is my tip: trust in the opinions of other hosts. You may be as well in a guest house as in a top-tier hotel but check on the opinions of other people to decide where you want to stay. I usually set my filters to top rated places.

In Airbnb, you can rent rooms, apartments or houses. I have mostly used it when travelling with my dog. I once was hosted in Avignon (France) and as we rented the whole apartment my dog was calmer than if the space was shared with someone else. I also love the recommendations that hosts may give you.

I know, I know you are thinking that I made a mistake, Facebook is a social media and there is no relation between it and finding accommodation. Well, it depends. When I was on my honeymoon I booked our guesthouse via Facebook (you may want to check out the post), it was a little bit risky but it turned out well. I would recommend you, before you make a choice, to look at the accommodation on the internet (become an online detective) and try to have a reservation paper in pdf (where the name of the accommodation appears) so that you are sure of where you are going, but NEVER pay anything in advance if there is no secure platform!!
These are my recommendations, depending on what you need and what you are looking for you may want to take a look to one or another. There are infinite choices on the internet so make sure that the one you book is what you need.
